History Nakeisha was brought into the world without a single care. She never had any of the ‘am I normal’ drama’s that children have or the ‘why don’t they like me’ rubbish. It wasn’t that she was delusional, she just grew up in a very loving environment, where every achievement was celebrated and that when the time came that she messed something up, as we all do, she could work on turning it into a positive force.
She was home schooled within the coven her family belonged to and strived to do the best she could at everything, earning her the respect of her peers who were all just like her. It wasn’t until she was eleven that she even talked to a regular human and she was completely and utterly fascinated by them and began learning more about their ways as well as the ways of any other creature she could learn about, wether it be lycan, vampire or fey.
With puberty came a surge in her magic, her family had a long line of elemental witches and she had always shown potential, but it was now proven that her strongest element was air and this both pleased and bothered her family’s leaders. For Nakeisha had shown such strength and passion all her life but air could be rather volatile.
She had grown up knowing no shame, no fear and with as strong a heart as she had she soon fell in love, at the tender age of fourteen with a man of nineteen. She gave herself completely to him for he was so sweet, so tender and she trusted him with her life, with her heart. Within six months she had fallen pregnant and when she was fifteen she brought Rakaiah into the world. It never once entered her mind that this was a problem, she was quite mature and knew she would take the best care of her tiny daughter. But she couldn’t attend her pride and joy’s third birthday, she was in hospital, fighting for her life.
The man she had always loved had grown into something uglier over the years and he would often disappear for nights at a time. This didn’t bother Nakeisha as maybe it should have, she owned no one and could only care for them as well as she could. But that passion in him which she was so drawn to, that strength, reared it’s ugly head in the shape of his fist, which is how she landed her very first hospital stay.
The beatings continued, on and off again for two years but she fought to keep her life as normal as possible and fell into that trap so many other women have when it comes to their abusive partners. Rakaiah was put into traditional school and attended sports and activities just like her peers, her father liked to keep her busy and active and Nakeisha thought it would do no harm, she taught her daughter all she knew about magic when they both had some spare time and she was a good pupil.
When Nakeisha saw her partner building into one of his infamous rages, not at her this time … but at their six year old child, something inside of her finally snapped. She threw him from the house, somewhat literally and began a fierce lawsuit against him. A year later she had full custody of her child and her partner, that man she had fallen so desperately in love with was doing five years time.
She carried on with her life and kept Rakaiah in school, the girl had friends there and didn’t need to be shuffled around. She doubled her efforts with the coven and within a few years she was working hard at a naturopath store she had started up with a few other witches, making herbal remedies and bath products for the local populous. Life was going well for her but one day she received a call, her partner had been released and was eager to see her and his child, to apologise for his wicked ways and start a fresh.
Seeing her daughter she wasn’t so sure on but she did meet him at a restaurant and sooner than many would have liked, their passion was reignited. Sent back to court it was another year until Rakaiah was permitted to spend time at her Father’s house and she spent every weekend there, which ached at Nakeisha a little as it limited her own time with her somewhat. As her daughter grew into herself over the next five years she made some changes, which were a little more drastic than Nakeisha would have liked, she had hacked her beautiful hair off and was becoming increasingly distant with her.
The reason why was all too soon revealed. Rushing her daughter to hospital after suffering what turned out to be a miscarriage she dug deep into the heart of the matter. Her daughter was her main priority but once all was said and done she made her way to the Father’s house … and she was pissed.
They argued for hours and soon, as she should have predicted, he turned violent. Scarily so. Sure every truly violent act was unpleasant but he hadn’t been this bad since that very first time … and then he passed his own record. Fighting for her life now she fought back, for herself, for her daughter, for their future. Some minutes later she was calling an ambulance, both for herself and the body she lay beside.
Court trials are always such demanding things and she truly hoped this would be the last. She was found innocent of murder, self defence was a wonderful alibi and eager to begin afresh she packed up herself and her daughter and headed South. Headed for Ajoia.
