Vampire Facts
1. Vampires cannot face holy objects if faith is used to back them up. Not only crosses, but also holy items from other religions. When they confront them, a bright light shines from them and the object will burn, especially if it comes in actual contact with the vampiric skin. A religious symbol can include crosses as well as miniature holy books, like the Torah.
2. When a master vampire is part of a pack feeding and the victim dies, in three days they will rise from the dead as a an animalistic vampire; a revenant. It's like they are on PCP. Pain doesn't stop them. Even the pain of confronting a cross. Against one such vampire, a hole was burnt into a woman's chest because the heat of the cross reacting to the vampire was too great.
3. When a vampire victim dies, he/she is brought to the St. Louis City Hospital. It is no longer being used as a human hospital, as only the morgue is being utilized now. There is a vault, built in the 1900s that contains a glass tank full of animals and a vampire counselor to welcome the newly dead. Dr. Henry Mulligan was a doctor who tried to use this room to cure vampires. The project ended when one of the vamps ate his face.
4. A master vampire has certain powers over the lesser vampires that they bring over. They include, being able to completely weaken the lesser vampire by act of will alone and putting them to sleep in their coffins.
5. It is possible for a male vampire to mate with a female mortal and produce children. However, in order for this to occur, the body temperature of the vampire needs to be closer to human norm. Another drawback is the possibility of Vlad's Syndrome, which is a child born as a revenant. Most of the time, children of such unions spontaneously abort. Female vampires cannot bear live young. More often than not, their bodies absorb the fetus back once again. The dead cannot give birth to life.
6. Vampires can have different forms. For example, Janos, Bettina, Pallas and Yvette have a form that is rotting, which is not an illusion, but a true form, according to Jean-Claude. They can rot and reform and are therefore much harder to kill. Fire is the only sure way of killing them.
7. Some master vampires have the ability to feed by means other than blood. Most can use fear as a secondary source of "nourishment" and are called nighthags or moras. A very few are able to use lust as a source, and were once known as incubus.
8. A pomme de sang (apple of blood) is a sobriquet given by the Council to individuals who are considered willing food for the vampires. It is against the rules to kill one and the repercussions can be severe depending upon which one is killed.
9. Vampires must have at least 6-10 hours a day rest in their coffins. sometimes it has been spoken that a vampire can perhaps sleep no more than 3 hours at a time, but its a rarity.
10. Vampires cannot enter a private home without being invited by someone (it does not have to be the one who owns it). a revoke can just simply be "get out" by the one that invited the vampire in the first place.
11. Vampires can also be seen through a mirror and can be taken pictures.
