For all those new to the board and even those who've been around a while here are the answers to a few of the most common questions we deal with.
If you feel that a question should be added to the list below, feel free to post a reply to the topic.
The current FAQ list is as follows: 1.) What is this place? 2.) What do I need to start playing in the room? 3.) Why do you deny character sheets? 4.) Can I change / upgrade my bio? 5.) Who's in charge around here? 6.) Why do I have to register my character? 7.) How many characters can I play? 8.) What are benchmarks? 9.) How do I start my own Clan?
Thank you!
~you're lovely Mods here at Ajoia: The Crystal City~

What is this place? This is the message board for a RPG called Ajoia : The Crystal City found on Alterrealm. The RP itself is a future based Game. You can find the room at www.alterrealm.com/?loc=whochat We are located under the theme section. Warning: This is an adult site, no minors. Ajoia sits on the water, near what used to be Whidbey Island Naval Station. It is not only a major port of call for ships all over the world, but also a leading competitor in the mining industry, due to mines that were found in 2015 that harbor abundant amounts of precious gems and minerals. The last count for this new city was at five million souls, and still counting, as thousands more pour into Ajoia by the week. Ajoia was founded when the mines were discovered by two tourists and entrepreneurs from Portugal. They named the city for the sky that always seemed to shine brightly, like one of the jewels they mined, even through the pouring mists of rain that apparently never let up. Martin Truman and Cristian Cortes at once moved their families to the new town and word spread of the wonders to be found, causing American citizens to flock to Ajoia from the terrible ruins of the once-great cities of Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, and Chicago. The city established a large port, meant to draw in traffic from every sea, and soon gained a Naval Station to replace the one destroyed at Bremerton. Truman and Cortes were hailed as the most powerful, not to mention the luckiest, men in the United States, if not the world. They are now dead... In daylight, the city is clean and lovely, pleasing to the senses. Come twilight, clans run rampant, and crime is as abundant as the jewels in the mountains. The beautiful beasts of the supernatural come out to play. Nothing is safe. Sex. Lies. Murder. Deceit. Underneath the blanket of beauty lies everything that innocence hides. Welcome to Ajoia.

What do I need to start playing in the room?
Step one: you need to register to use this message board.
Then, you need to create a character and post it in the submissions section. Check the templates and benchmark section or hit up a mod for help.
Lastly, before you can play in the room your character must be approved. Our mods will look it over and asked you to make any changes then deem necessary before approving it.
After that hit the room, stay current and try to come in atleast once a week (to play not lurk). We understand people have R/T and that it comes first. If you need your character benched at any time let us know.
And most importantly..have fun! Be creative and get involved.

Why do you deny character sheets?
The main reason for a denial of a sheet is power levels. Be realistic people. If you character has billions of resources and is invicible don't be surprised when we tell you no.
We also deny based on lack of information. Make sure you fill out your sheet to the best of your ability. Use the Template and benchmarks as a guide. And don't be afraid to go into detail on your history.
Also, if you are denied do not be discouraged. You can easily tweak your character sheet and resubmit. The mods will also make suggestions on your sheet to point you in the right direction.
Be creative!

Can I change / upgrade my bio?
Of course you can!! Provided any changes have been roleplayed out in the room and suffient time in the room has been spent. This means interaction people, not just having your character train for days and then expect to upgrade. All changes and upgrades also need to be reapproved before being used in play.

Who's keeps the place running.? (Staff and behind the scenes people.)
Ajoia is a freeform room and thus everyone has a say.
Your Mods and Admins however are as follows:
PixieDust demongrrly ScarredPixieWings
They are incharge of the room, board and character approval etc. If you need to get a hold of them you can leave them a PM here or hit them up at their respective emails in the members section.

Registering your character is necessary for a few reasons.
1.) It's helps us keep track of who is in play. 2.) It forces you to put some thought into history, powers etc. This in turn helps out other characters who can look up your sheet and check what they are up against etc. 3.) It allows us to keep GMing to a minimum by limiting the amount of power a character can have and keeping it a fair playing field. 4.) And most importantly..people who have to put time into creating a character are more likely to come back..and we like to see people continue to come back.

How many characters can I play?
Currently, there is no cap on how many characters that you have, but we ask that you only play two of each kind, and then only if you know you have the time to commit to each of them. Also it would be ideal if one character is submitted and played for a short amount of time before another is submitted. This is to ensure you actually like the room and want to continue playing there before you make a multitude of characters.
We also ask that if you submit a power character. ie. the leader of a clan. Please put the time into playing them or open the position up for someone else.

What are benchmarks?
Benchmarks are the unit of measurement for stats and powers. A list of them can be found on the Character Sheet Template and Benchmarks board.
We use these in judging fights and actions in the room.
For example: If my weapon has a rating of [Remarkable] and you have a body armour rating of [Typical]. Then the bullet will pass through.

How do I start my own Clan?
If you are interesting in starting a Clan, faction, underground rebel group etc just hit up one of the Storytellers or ScarredPixieWings.
Be prepared to provide a detailed description, background and goal for your group.
