Required: 1 lead character for a ‘key’ could be either filler or become permanent (could also be existing character )
The ‘Missing’ NPC’s, fillers and/or regular characters to go errr … missing.
Rescue team: Mixed assortment, you would need at least one supernatural specialist, one technology geek/genius one muscle plus a wide assortment of back up and support crew. Again, the bulk could be fillers and NPC’s.
Plot: Ok. With technology advancing and the world becoming more reliant upon it … it’s just waiting for a major cock up. You’ve got robots, genetically enhanced beings, lions and tigers and bears … you get the jist. So this one day … at Ajoia (I’ll stop the movie references soon I promise) the World started to fall apart. A very popular website had been collecting information and uploads for a few years now … collecting data how we might collect food. It stored it and grew from it. One day it simply grew to large for it’s own boots. But to exist on it’s one required a huge amount of energy … you try running a marathon on an empty stomach … so it sucked every person and kinda person that was currently logged on to it into the system. Literally. But there were a few teething problems. Remember those photos of yourself as a toddler where you have spaghetti all over you, the high chair, the table, the walls … and you have to wonder how well fed you were? Think of that … but with people. The first ones just kind of liquidised and became a stain on the floor … just like your Mum’s spaghetti. But as the website became smarter it was able to successfully ‘eat people’. Some of these people surely would have been killed but … there’s a chance some people are still alive. Just ... pixelated.
Like every problem that has ever existed before though, there’s always a solution and unless you’re a Millenium Math problem, anything can be solved. When the website mutated into a being of it’s own, it put what it considered all of it’s best features into itself, in effect leaving behind what it thought was irrelevant. With the force used to create this new being … the leftovers if you will were created into something else … a person.
Due to the massive ego of the website however, it’s ‘leftovers’ were formed into what you and I might consider the perfect being. Created as an adult with a life full of memories, memories the website had stored from it’s users and pieced them together so this new person, this key, is a part of nearly every person on Earth. This key is the only way to return the website out of it’s own World and back into binary code. Trouble is the key think’s they’re a regular person. Gotta love the catches.
The team of experts, the ones trekking into this new plane created by the Website need to accept the key, who doesn’t appear to have any particular talent useful for such an expedition and only once in the ‘webplane’ will the key have a breakdown, realise it’s entire life is a lie and cry a little before accepting it’s what, a week old and is mankind’s (lycankind, robotkind … yeah you know) only hope.
But hey, lets not make this easy. Travelling into an alternate plane of the universe is not going to be an easy road … so what have you got? Shadowbeings, vampire Pomeranians, Agent Smith and his clonies … the list goes on. Once in there of course the key has to find the lock it fits into and then oops, did I mention the website would attack back before doing a hard shutdown to save itself, thus potentially killing everyone in it? Best put your game faces on … running shoes probably wouldn’t hurt either. For now that the website is no longer a threat to the world, you still have to get your team of experts and the victims you were originally saving … bonus points if you can save the key.
Are you game?
