By now, most of you know that AR will be closing at the end of the month. While there are rumors floating around that someone might be buying AR and keeping it open...I'm not banking on that. And so...for your viewing entertainment, and because I'm only one person - everyone who plays in Ajoia has the right to an opinion - I'm listing some sites here that you can browse around, see what you think. If you have any ideas or know a good site to move to,post it here. I want to know what you think.
DarkRealms Chat (www.darkrealmschat.com) - this is a site similar to AR in that it runs on a streaming HTML coding. There are no limits on PDs,and only one person (the room owner) needs to have a membership. I've spoken to the site owner and,as I have two admins with the room coming with,he's offered me a deal if Skitz,Tasha, and myself all get memberships. There are already two other Anitaverse rooms on the site, and another futuristic vampire room, but I think we could settle in here nicely.
RolePlay Universe (www.roleplayuniverse.com) - RPU gets decent traffic. However, the room management is limited. The last time I checked, the site owners and staff were the ones who did the PDs and entrance pages,and...well...I'm a control freak. Also noted is that RPU requires five memberships for a room to open. While they do offer a lot of nifty membership perks,I wouldn't ask any of you to give a membership if you couldn't. One of their LKH rooms just closed, but there is another there that gets a little patronage.
Sanktejo Realms (www.sanktejo.com) - SR's not a bad spot. Only problem is that their Vampire section is a little spotty. It doesn't get a whole lot of feet running through it. It has,the last time I checked,3 LKH rooms open, though I don't know how many of those are openly played in. Of course...right now,it seems that SR is having an issue and can't take new memberships. So...yeah.
Warp1.net (www.warp1.net) - Alright. I like this site. It's well run,and it does seem to get a decent amount of traffic. The issue here is that it is NOT similar to AR in the least. It's a streaming Java site, and for those of us running multiple characters, this could be a dream come true. Characters are set up in puppets, and are available in the room through a dropdown list, making it easy to change characters...meaning no two, three, four thousand windows open. The only matter is that I think there are only three people who play in Ajoia that are familiar with this setup. It doesn't require memberships for their rooms, hell, even the room owner doesn't have to pay. The room is set up as a hybrid (the room owner can manage it,but it's not public just yet) for the site admin to watch, and when they have a good idea of the traffic,it's converted to a public room.
World Broadcasting System (www.worldbroadcastingsystem.net) - WBS is pretty much the same as Warp...it runs on the same system, uses puppets and the like. It's just a different server. The admin for this site has already offered me a room there, starting as a hybrid.
If anyone knows of anywhere else,go ahead and post it along with some information. Thanks!
