History: Riley was always a little special. Born in Australia in the 1930’s with a mute twin she screamed and hollered more than most twins and it was often said that the reason Jayden was mute was because Riley stole his vocal flaps. But for better or worse she was his voice, that mouthy lil thing that seemed to be everywhere with him because he was ‘weak’.
Separated in school because of his ‘disability’ her tongue hardened and she spent more time studying in the principal’s office then she did in her own classroom. The times were not ready for her or her attitude and she became cold to her classmates and teachers would often ask her to leave. But one summer holiday as she was coming into her teen’s, Riley took note and decided what it was exactly she was going to do with her life.
Hitting the books with remarkable vigour she surprised all her teachers and despite the occasional catty remark that she couldn’t help escape her lips she was starting to become a little bit more of the ‘model’ student. So she graduated high school and studied to become a teacher, a goal she had held for the better part of a decade. For at that summer camp long ago she was disgusted in the way Jayden and other kids like him were treated to vowed to stop it, by doing the only thing she knew how to. Change it herself.
Australia was a little slow to catch on to the spirit of the sixty’s but when it came, it came with a bang. She was inked and pierced by her friends, who had grown to call her Lucy because of her loud mouth antics and controlled only by her brother, the one family member with whom she stayed in touch. Tech (University) came and went and five years later she found herself holding a degree and being shuffled into a job.
But despite her plans to conquer the world, one deaf kid at a time, that was never to be. In the late sixties she was assisting supervision on a school camp, getting the kids out into the fresh air and doing something a little less mundane than multiplication tables, despite their importance. Like every Australian camp that ever was and ever will be there were many sporting activities and most revolved around water. With canoes on the river the children were herded up, all but one, Chloe, who waited at the back so she could beg Riley, Miss Myers, her very favourite teacher, if she could sit in her canoe. Riley had a soft spot for little Chloe, as most of the children were deaf, except for this little one who was mute, just like Jayden.
Finding no reason for excuse Chloe wriggled into Riley’s canoe and the school set off for a relaxing ride before little bellies started rumbling. A week later Riley awoke in hospital, the river had swelled, canoes had turned and Chloe had died, with Riley almost following her in an effort to save the poor girl. Her teaching certificate stripped from her she was banned from working with children ever again and grew to be rather bitter. Finding her brother, who had dived into the world of technology with open arms she pestered him until the pair left for England on a bit of a holiday, where hopefully Riley could get a fresh start.
Well she did get a fresh start but it wasn’t the one she was expecting. A vampire had been observing Riley since they arrived and welcomed her and Jayden into the city of Brighton’s manor. As huge as a swanky hotel but much nicer she entered with a lot of paranoia and questions, driven along by Jayden and his desire to go. It wasn’t long until she was dead and now her already sick and twisted sense of humour could flourish. Her twin had also been turned but by a different Vampire and for the first time since the canoe accident, she was happy.
A born hunter people came in and out of her lives, occasionally she kept one as a Pomme once Tristan allowed her but she enjoyed the other activities vampirism allowed her. Plotting with people’s lives. Riley and her new friends grew infamous within the manor and the town for most likely being the ones to point the finger at when trouble occurred. Not that they were ever caught, but doubt was there. And like all people do eventually, the friends started to drift apart as they focused on their own immortal lives … and their lovers.
Unbeknownst to her, the years had flown by and in the new millennia she found herself being seduced by none other than Gregory Callaghan, the biggest rock star to hit England and the World since Robbie Williams. Of course the press had a field day with this. EVIL Riley was naturally confuddling Greg’s brain and stealing him away for her own dirty deeds. That may have been the case but her intentions were honourable. When their engagement was announced every detail of Riley’s life was dragged through the mud and her Pomme’s and friends were stalked and constantly abused. The night of their wedding the press was there, begging Greg to leave her, to look away from her eyes for it was obviously a mind trick she played on him. But Riley had never done anything of the sort and the only tricks she played were in her dungeon, well away from the papparazzi’s cameras.
Things eventually quietened down and Riley had begun watching a human rather carefully. He was so perfect, so pure and innocent that she couldn’t help but marvel at him. A year later she had killed him and made him her own, her own little Vortigern. She cared for him like a Mother would a Son, making sure he had everything he desired and with the protection of Tristan they became quite a close little family and it wasn’t long until she turned two of her Pomme’s, Matt and Xaria.
Her marriage slowly breaking apart as Greg was learning exactly how wicked Riley could be, the pressure from the press began building again and rumours leaked out that Riley was cheating on her husband with those she now considered her chyldren. A week later, Xaria and Zenith-Fin, Tristan’s other chyld and her darling sister had been killed. Found with their heads and hearts removed. Not long after that Tristan received the same treatment. Hell did not hath enough fury. Many reporters and photographers mysteriously disappeared that year for not only was this a blow to the family but Zenith-Fin had been one of those whom Riley had first befriended when arriving to this suddenly stinking town and she loved Tristan like a Father. Mutiny was declared in the ranks.
Fin’s husband was a werelion, an alpha called Harrison who had lived at the manor happily until his wife was killed and swore Riley was responsible. Greg, who was very quietly a werewolf, somehow keeping that fact from the media felt pressure from the lycan community and with his and Riley’s love already in jeopardy they parted ways.
Riley brooded for many years and grew to love toying with her victim’s and many battles were fought at the manor and she was imprisoned many times before she became a little smarter, before Soren came into her life. Friends since she first arrived at the manor Soren was Harrison’s lycan brother, both adopted by the alpha jaguar who looked over every cat in town, for none of their numbers were large enough to form individual groups. Riley had never been as warm with Soren as she was with the others but that soon all changed when she started learning some of his dirty little secrets.
Discovering someone at this purity palace was nastier than she could be tickled her fancy and they formed an iron clad team before a rare love developed, one that both knew would be hard to break despite outside pressures. They painted the town red together, usually with blood and she grew quite fond of hunting with her partner in leopard form by her side. Gave it an extra little kick for her victims never ran faster. To the entire manor’s shock the two became engaged and Ebony, the queen jaguar kept an annoyingly close watch over Riley for she believed her Soren to be a sweet natured almost simple boy. But the two secretly held a commitment ceremony and considered themselves married before they concocted a scheme like nothing they’d done before.
Riley had grown tired of the manor’s double standards, chastising her whilst they snuck around doing things just as wicked. So the pair thought to kill off seven of them and punish many more for each of the deadly sins. Riley had been cared for by Tristan’s own twin, a man by the name of Quinlan whom she despised like no other. His chyld, Zara, grated her goat something fierce and the two were constantly sparring. Zara found herself dying for envy. Soren and Riley could not do everything alone though, especially for their trophy victim and so they rather riskily, enlisted help with the head psychotic of the manor. A pyrokinetic vampire by the name of Logan. Logan had been a long enemy of the jaguar queen and knowing he would be killing her cheerfully assisted with the rest.
The trio were pleased with themselves and Soren was promoted to King of the Cats. Harrison however was not pleased, one of his own charges as well as the queen he considered his Mother had been killed and he would not rest until he sought their killers. Like any small community the truth was eventually leaked and Harrison, having a long hatred of Riley turned all his wrath onto her. Soren, who was believed to be innocent and Riley had many a discussion and eventually she fled into the night and left the country, holing up in a little place called Ajoia, somewhere she had never heard of and hoped neither had Harrison.
She was wrong.
